Wood Carving Art by Renee Keith

It started with pyrography (previous blog post) and turned into wood carving! Why? I decided that I love doing both, but I LOVE actually having wood carvings more. So, my sweet husband bought me some carving tools for our anniversary…

Tools: I went with the Pfeil brand, which is top of the line. Before that, I tried some cheaper tools and it just wasn’t worth it.. it was sooo much harder to carve. So, less is more and I will add to my tool set over time! Eventually, I would like to get this power carver.

Wood: Basswood seems to be the softest most available wood where I am located (Utah)… I’ve read that wet pine wood (cut fresh) carves like butter, but haven’t had the experience yet.
